The Portuguese locals are some of the friendliest people we have met, and on top of the local community, the West Algarve - including Lagos, Praia da Luz, Portimao, Ferragudo, Burgau, Salema, Vila do Bispo, and Sagres - attracts lots of travellers, backpackers, surfers and young families. If you’re new to traveling solo, don’t worry, hostels are honestly the best place in the world to make new friends and travel buddies.
The Portuguese weather is pretty amazing all-year-round, but especially spring, summer and fall are amazing! With barely any rain and an average of 12 hours of sun a day in summer, it's a perfect destination to soak up some vitamin D.
The Algarve beaches are absolutely stunning. Small beaches are surrounded by beautiful cliffs, making it a very picturesque surrounding. In summer you will find beaches both with and without waves, depending on your preference that day. There's beaches to go surfing, and beaches to have a very calm swim.
